Hi Olivier,
Olivier Geoffroy wrote: Tried on 2005 but none of the dll's registered at installation. (following the guide)
Did anybody had the same problems? (I am still on 2005 SPO on Win 2000)
There are more people that have this issue. In 2005 version the plugin has activeX controls that could crash with other components of your system. We have tried to reproduce this in our systems but we couldn't. In 2006 there are no activeX components and the installation is so much clean.
Olivier Geoffroy wrote: MXR works fine, with know camera problems, but I cannot have access to the Color maps dialogue from any of the material. Could it be linked to the install problem ? Does anybody have access to color map yet ?
Also noticed that surfaces are not recognise by MXR. Is it a bug or a choice ?
I don't know if I understand you. maxwell uses the texture menu of solidworks, there is no other map dialogue. In 2005 there is a known bug, maxwell only recognize textures assigned to faces (not to bodies or components) It also have been solved in 2006 version. It will be release next week. what do you mean when you say that mxll does not recognise surfaces? could you give me an example? We had a problem extracting geometries of lightweight components (already fixed), we have not found any other case with wrong geometri extraction. If you have found a bug please let us know. Thanks!

Hi Olivier,
Olivier Geoffroy wrote: The texture laying out of SW is not great. (cannot make texture consistent between faces, etc..) Is there any possibility to have a bump map then ?
we will try to improve the texture layout to use any type of map in future versions. Also in october with the standalone you could reassign maps.
Olivier Geoffroy wrote: I did not know about the limitation of the material assignement to faces. This explains my problems with surfaces came from the fact that I was trying to use components or body to assign material.
In the new version you can assign materials to bodies or components. We also have started to work in a more powerful material editor.
Olivier Geoffroy wrote: Now I came accross another problem : each time I try to use custom textures, (defined from my own jpeg files) SW crashes each time I launch a render.
you need to copy your texture in one existing folder inside <SW install folder>\data\textures\ .. at now maxwell only can manage jpg, bmp and targa. It will accept png and other formats very soon. Please if you still have problems let me know. Thanks for your info!

Hello Olivier,
2006 version is not limited to apply textures only by face. Now you can apply them to entire bodies or components. With the standalone in october we pretend to provide more tools to manage textures.

Sorry, I didn't understand you Now I see your doubt. In Solidworks 2006 the textures are still applied face by face, with different orientation for each face. You manage it like in older versions. We will improve texture handling in next releases, even we will try to add bump. Anyway with the release in october you will have a lot of control in the standalone.
Thanks!
