So in the Next Limit support site it gives the types of cameras and that you can use a LatLong lens in order to create a VR image. I did it and it works great with Google Cardboard. Then I tried to do a separate Left and Right image to create a stereoscopic image and it's too far ... left/right I guess? The documentation doesn't really go into what the Parallax Distance measures and what the Separation measures. Or what the Zenith Mode is. Can anybody provide a little more insight into what these variables change in a rendering?

Thanks,
Chris

I did a webinar about this feature:

http://www.maxwellzone.com/tutorials/ti ... tion-tips/

But in short:

- the parallax distance is the distance in your scene where you really won't have any 3D depth effect. It's where the left and right images will converge.

- separation distance is the distance between the left and right cameras. So if you want less of a 3D effect lower this value. Larger distance can become strenuous on the eyes. Also, in general, you will need a smaller separation distance the smaller your scene is, and the closer an object is to the camera. A general rule is that you divide the parallax distance with a number between 30 and 120 and you get the separation distance.

- zenith mode: when it is off, the default mode, then the top and bottom of your scene will get distorted in order to later be correctly mapped to a sphere. So if you have something interesting going on in your scene at either the top or bottom of it, it will be difficult to judge what it looks like when you look at the raw render because of the distortion. Zenith mode simply turns the camera up so that it's instead the middle of your scene that will get distorted.

Thanks for the explanation and webinar video. I'm sure I'll have a few more questions as I try to refine my settings.

Chris
