Dear all,

When I create a material with textures which have to be real-scale, I normaly use the "Floor" preview to set it up. Creating a metal perforated material with about 10 holes accross the 10cm floor preview and placing it then on the Simball which is 7cm gives me a very dense texture, not representating what I would expect.

Under projection properties it is written for setting a texture to Meters; "Maxwell Render will use a 1m x 1m x 1m UV set for the texture when the Meters option is selected, regardless of the actual size of the object and what other UV sets may be applied to the object."

So why isn't this representated properly on the Simball? What am I doing wrong?

Have a great weekend!

I think this has to do with a bug/limitation in Studio in that if the object you're applying a real scale material to, has a UV set that's set to locked, it can't change that to a cubic UV of 1 meter (which is what should happen for the real scale material to work properly). So you need to first select the UV sets of the simball, and change them from locked to cubic. Then apply your real scale material, a pop up should appear telling you that the UVs need to be changed to accommodate this material, click yes and it will scale the cubic UV set to 1m.

Good morning Mihai,

I opened the simball scene and changed the UV sets to cubic, but applying the material won't change the UV's properly (didn't get popup). However when I click Normalize it seems to go right.

Cheers

That's what clicking "yes" in that dialog box does also, it changes the UVs to be 1m, same as clicking the Normalize button. You should get that pop up if you are applying a material that has tiling set to Meters. If it doesn't that pop up won't appear.
