Anyone tested HDR Light Studio with V3? I setup my render settings to Image Based and pick HDR Light Studio for Background, reflection, etc. I launche fire and it seems to update with HDR Light Studio lights but when I render it is completely black. Any thoughts on settings...camera or otherwise?

Also, I notice fire goes black every once in a while, not updating to HDR Light Studio.

Thanks for help.

PS. I loaded an actual image map for the BG and now at least I see the render though it is very dark...maybe it's just camera setting that need tweaking.

You want a Maxwell camera EV of roughly 8 when you are setting up your HDR Light Studio lighting. But Yes, I have used HDR Light Studio with Maxwell Studio v3 as recently as today... all works fine for me here.

You should have all the IBL channels set to "same as background", and the background set to "HDR Light Studio" when you are setting up your lighting.

Best,
Jason.

Half Life thanks for the info. Do I have to load an HDRI map path into the "Map" option in the Background area? It seems if I don't indicate a map path, the image renders black. I thought with HDRI Light Studio you can create IBL lights without having to use an HDRI.

The other thing is as a test I color the lights in Light Studio and Fire indicates the color reflection and diffuse on the object, but when I render it shows no influence of colored lights in the final render. Do I need to change something else? I have checked "Interpolation" and "Screen Mapping" and that's how I see the lights in viewport and Fire.

When I click on the viewport to adjust the camera, the HDR Light Studio lights are swapped with the loaded HDRI map indicated in Fire view with no color influence from the HDR Light Studio lights, but when I go back and click on the lights in HDR Light Studio's Live window the HDR Lights appear in viewport and the Fire renders show the color influence of the lights along with the lights in the background. When I click on the Render button at top, the final render shows the HDR image with the object lit but no influence from the colored lights in HDR Light Studio.

Sorry, I am a newbie and I am sure I am missing some settings or something.

I realized that when I do load an HDR image Maxwell merely uses the image to light the scene, and that is what gets rendered....it completely ignores the lights from HDR Light Studio. If I get leave the Background image field empty and select HDR Light Studio, it completely renders black.

Total brain fart! I forgot I had to render out the light map first as an exr and have Maxwell use the map to light things. Sorry, I am experiencing a huge crash course on HDR lighting and Maxwell at the same time. Is there a way not to get the HDR Light Studio lights not to show up in the background in final render...just have the lit object isolated render?

Also, one minor thing I notice is that if I click away from HDRLS window to adjust something in Maxwell, Fire render will not update the render at all unless I go back into HDRLS window and click on a light.
