When this happens, check if your license files are still in the correct folders, because all that relicensing does is recreate these license files. If Maxwell or Studio or a plugin says it can't find its license it's most likely because the license server crashed or something is blocking the connection between the apps and the RLM server. The next time this happens, go to localhost:5054 in your browser and see if the RLM server is running correctly. If it isn't running, that's the problem and relicensing won't help. Restart RLM in this case and see if that fixes the problem.

Thanks Mihai, I try that.

It occurs when, for example, I'm changing from working on a client's VPN to my own connection, or when changing from WLAN to an USB LTE stick and back. This morning, I could not use MR to fine tune some MXIs, because I had no WLAN or USB LTE stick handy, so I had no internet connection whatsoever.

I'm not sure I understand, if the RLM server is on the same laptop as you are working on, you don't need an internet connection, or any LAN connection. You have problems because probably your MAC adress changes when you insert the USB LTE stick and so the license will not be valid for this new MAC adress. If this is the case, then rename your "regular" maxwell_suite_floating.lic file to something else and keep it as backup. Next, insert your USB LTE stick and run Maxwell so that the licensing starts and run the licensing so that you get a new lic file that's based on the new MAC adress. Rename this new lic file when you are not using the stick anymore so that the old license file with the older MAC is the one Maxwell will use. So you would effectively switch between two lic files.

Thanks - exactly. The RLM server is running on the laptop where I run Maxwell Studio (and from that laptop I RDP/TeamViewer other PCs with our engineering software and PCs that work as our render nodes).

I do what you suggest regarding that friggin' USB LTE stick, makes sense with the two files. These sticks are just so convenient when on the train or in the back country or when your internet provider cuts you off.
