do i need two floating licenses now
when i want to use maxwellrender in the office and at home ?

You have a node locked license? This can be installed on two computers, exactly for the purpose of installing it also on a laptop which you use for travel/presentations, or home/office. So it's ok with only one node locked license. What you won't be able to do is connect both with a network and try to use Maxwell in both of them at the same time.

but the node locked version doesnt allow me to use rendernodes. in the office i have to render the final imagss with some nodes because of speed issues. so i should buy one floating license and one node locked license for home office ?

I'm having the same problem...
For home office work, the floating license type is not ideal.
But I'm going to try to use a VPN. In theory this should work, right?

If you have a floating license and you want to use Maxwell also at home you do not need to buy a second license, nor a nodelocked one.

You can install the license manager also in the home computer (licensing it exactly as in the office, the license validation application will deal with the activation count internally) and use it with one machine there. If the home machine is a laptop you can also use it in the office and both RLM license servers will not collide but you will be able to work with all the machines together including the laptop.

that sounds good. but if you'd have several people (eg. 5) in your company that are doing some home office from time to time, you could not activate the license 5 times, right?
then using VPN would be the only possible solution?

Hi, I have a more complex question.
We are planning the upgrade. The actual licenses state is:
Maxwell Render v1 Standard licenses: 1
Maxwell Render v2 Standard licenses: 2
Maxwell Render v2 RenderNode licenses: 3

We have a new colleague, so we need to upgrade 3 licenses to V3 (the v1 standard was unused, but now we need to update and use it).
The situation home /office will be:

Daytime (all in office):
3 seats
3 nodes
(and these 6 computer are always rendering. A seat can work and render "local and/or network" at the same time, as v2?)


Night time (office and home):
office:
2 seats rendering all night project "X"
2 nodes rendering all night project "X"

home: (with home pc, different than office machines)
1 seat working+rendering all night project "Y"
1 node rendering all night project "Y"

Note that at home there is a very poor internet connection and VPN is not possible.
How should we buy and activate licenses to continue to work in this way?
