Guys, thanks for the new rhinoll version!!

I have some questions about the material editor:

I can't see my textures and material colors in the rendered viewport, am I doing something wrong?

When I assign a material to a new object other already assigned objects are selected to, is this right? or what can I do to avoid this

After opening the material editor for several times Rhino crashes??!!

When I select a new object and open the material editor a new material is automatically created this is not desired because I want to add tis abject to a already existing material, how can i avoid this?

This is all for now.

I've noticed this too. I hope that can be fixed. I need that instant feedback for when I split surfaces to control texture appearance.

hmm, yes this got broken along the way. Thanks

Please, take a few moments to read about new features in the documentation :).

Go to the material menu in the editor and select the "Replace selection option". I agree with everyone, this option should be active by default.

oh, good, a crash. Yeah, we need to know about those.
Does it happen consistently on you ? How many times do you have to open / close the dialogue? How many materials in the editor ? So far I cannot reproduce it (open + closed about fourty times to test, but .... nada). I would appreciate any more details you can tell or find to pin-point this to a consitent repeatable crash.

How are you openning the editor ? Use the browse button on the object propoerties ? Use the Maxwell Menu ?

Hi Niko,

I follow your steps:
  • Make a new object
  • Goto object properties
  • Press "browse"
  • The Maxwell editor comes up but there is no new material added in it.
Did I follow the wrong steps ? Can you guide me through it ?

Also, did you purge all plugin data from your file to make sure there are no ghost data interfering from the old Rhinoll ?

Hi,

I don't seem to have the ability to save the materials I create, the "file" tab stays ghosted out no matter what I do. If I save and close the rhino file, when I re-open, the materials are lost.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry my mistake!! I used the create button....

but another question:

Rhino (Rhinoll) gives an error when i push the render button
(Maxwell Error: There is Objects without material
Error writing MXS file
)
but every object has a material assigned to it, in previous versions in this case a solution was to open an empty file and save as blanc, then import this file into the scene you want to render, this way all materials are still there but settings in the maxwell properties menu were reseted
now all I had to do was enter all new settings and the problem was fixed.

but now when I import a new file all settings are still there and the error remains

I also tried to unload Rhinoll and load it again but then my material library is gone, also when I copy my scene into a new file the library is gone Rhinoll says: The material don't exist in the library

Is there anything I can do to prevent my to have to retexture my complete scene (+100 defferend materials and about a half a day of work?)

This was actually a loophole in the previous Rhinoll. We should not loose settings when geometry is pasted or imported.
Now the copy / paste mechanism has been updated and that is why the old workaround fails.

About this problem. Can you reproduce it on a simple scene using the fewest possible steps and fewest possible objects ?

Does it only happen with textured objects ?

Thanks

I'm not sure what happens exactly, I will try to get you a small workable file with this "error" tomorrow.

Maybe it's an idea to let maxwell do a precheck and let it select any objects that may give a problem, just thinking out loud.

Thanks Thomas!
