Well, you would do this the same in Rhino as you would anywhere else...basically, starting from defaults:

- sun low on horizon
- turbidity coefficient ~0.1
- scattering asymmetry ~0.950
- use a very long lens, i.e. 300-400mm
- use auto-exposure with EV 15-16
- glare intensity & frequency ~250.0
- lens scattering ~250.0

That should be a decent starting point:

I'm not sure what you mean - probably you need to put something in front of the sun and use different glare maps - what you're seeing in KurtS's sunset is the sun/glare being distorted because it's shining through an object.

what you need there is written directly on the image you were talking about:
an aperture map, an obstacle map and the right settings for them.
