Hello again everyone. Thanks to JD I have the spherical mapping down but now I have a couple of strange triangular shapes that are bending the brushed effect. I checked my mesh settings in Rhino and made sure that they are on "Smooth and Slower" which helped a bit but they are still there. Any advice? Thanks again in advance!!

Perhaps those polygons are not perfectly planar....Try opening the mxs in Studio, select that object and in the Object params panel click Recalc to recalculate the normals. Perhaps that helps..

Rhino's normal-smoothing should work just as good as Studio's would, so I would say that your mesh is simply not fine enough. I'm not sure if there is a good source of information as to what would be appropriate settings - they are just quite different for different types of geometry - but 'smooth and slower' is still just a very general setting. Probably best to:

- select the object
- go to Object Properties
- in Render Mesh Settings, check Custom Mesh
- click the Adjust button
- in the dialog shown, click Simple Controls
- click Preview

At this point, you can probably identify where the distortion you're seeing relates to the actual mesh being generated. Try a few different settings using the density slider, and previewing those - you should be able to find a point where things look as you want them to.

About .mxs vs. .mxi, there is no File > Save As for .mxs, because the whole purpose of the plugin is to write .mxs files - that's what happens when you hit render. Where the .mxs is saved is specified in Scene Manager > Output Settings > Scene Path. The .mxs file holds all of the meshes and materials in the Scene - the .mxi file is a file which holds the actual image data that is produced by the renderer.
