Open the plugin's Environments toolbar, there are buttons for all four channels, and one to turn off the display. Right-click the button for one of the channels to choose the map, and left-click to show it in the viewport.

Not sure if my question was clear...should we see a mapped hdr as a background sphere in an active viewport?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'as a background sphere' - what happens is that the plugin puts the entire scene (and camera) inside of a huge sphere and maps a temporary RGB version of the HDR backwards on the inside of the sphere. The viewport has to be a perspective view, not parallel, btw.

I'm fully embarrassed to say I didn't realize a toolbar existed! I was looking in the scene manager "environment" dialog box where it isn't. Anyway, found it, followed your instructions and it works. :)

Much thanks.
