I've been trying to learn how to apply decals in the Rhino plug-in and
cannot figure out how to size and place the decal or place more that one
on an object. I do not seem to be able to move or resize the map without
affecting the base material. I've noticed that the Rhino plug-in does not offer an"add new layer option in the material manager". Is this what would be required to size and locate decals in Rhino. If so this really need to be added soon. I do interiors and need to add various decals to objects. Thanks

Decals is pain in the ass using maxwell + rhino.. or maxwell in any case I think. It's so unintuitive and unflexible..

Well, they're a pain, because there is no such thing as a decal in Maxwell. :P

This is generally handled by creating weight-mapped materials...I won't go into that now, since there's alot of information about this here on the forum - but have a look in the tutorials section, or on the Think! site, and come back with any specific questions. It will also be helpful to read up on texture-mapping in Rhino, it's in the help under Object Properties > Texture Mapping.

Sorry, I don't quite follow - you can add as many layers as you want, just right-click over the layers tree, the same as in MXED. Or, have I misunderstood the question?

Thanks JD I'll do that but I still can't add a new layer, attached is a
screen shot from rhino interface showing I do not get the option to add
a layer only BSDF etc.Image

I see where you are confused - in the plugin, a BSDF has all the properties of a layer - the Weight/WeightMap properties are the only thing on a 'layer' in MXED, so I just put them right in the BSDF.
