This used to work fine before.

Now, test files with Stanford models, or Bathsheba models (menger, etc...), are not working, the mesh object gets highlighted (error) and does not appear in the render.

when you switch to Rhino Render, the mesh objects appear fine.

tried unweld, weld, normal flips, no success yet.

using: rhino 4.0 sr2, latest maxwell and rhino plugin, on xp64.

any ideas?

Hi raja,

1.6.1 is pickier about geometry. The specific meshes you're working with might be invalid, yet did not cause any crashes - other invalid meshes, with the same problems found in yours might though. Previously, the plugin actually tried to modify your bad meshes during export, and this is sometimes successful, but it is somewhat expensive and was removed when the meshing function was re-written in its new faster form. In my current build, I've added this back in (as well as a detailed report about which objects are bad, and why) without much impact to performance. I had been waiting to finish some camera work I'm doing, and for SR3 (to support instances), but I may wrap things up and release an intermediate 1.6.x build to take care of problems like the one you're having and to get feedback on the new camera model.

If you want to send me some of these objects, I would like to confirm that the new function is better able to deal with them.

Thanks,

JD

Hi JD,

Its clear, I guess there is no need to confirm. And its not a crucial problem.
thanks for the response.
