Oh, .. I was adhering to the old paradigm of the 1.5 plug-in, .. I suppose a bit pedantic of me.

 ...a reasonable assumption. :)

No guarantees, but my hope is that this change might help with some of the toolbar wackiness...

Maxwell menu > Show Maxwell Toolbars does not work here.

I have installed all updates.

my installation path is: C:\Programme\Next Limit\Maxwell

As far as I can see by now all functions work by accessing them from the main menue, but the toolbar remains invisible.

what can I do ?

Thanks & kindest regards

Hi MickyMicky,

The location that the installer puts the toolbar files on my Vista install is:
  • C:\Users\Jeremy\AppData\Roaming\MaxwellDotNET\Plugins\Rhino\4.0\Toolbar\MaxwellToolbar.tb
This will be somewhat different on XP, where rather than C:\Users, it will be under C:\Documents and Settings. If you're on XP, do a search of the Documents and Settings folder for MaxwellToolbar.tb. If you can't find anything there, look for:
  • C:\Programme\MaxwellDotNET\Plugins\Rhino\4.0\Toolbar Backup\MaxwellToolbar.tb
Copy MaxwellToolbar.tb somewhere (so you still have the backup) and load it using the Rhino toolbar manager.

Before you do this though, could you please open the log viewer (in the Maxwell main menu) and email me any error messages which might be printed when you use the 'Show Maxwell Toolbars' command? I haven't heard of the command failing before, and I'd like to determine why it is in your case.

Thanks,

JD

Thanks for your reply !

as requested I sent you a screenshot of the maxwell logfile by e-mail.

1st : I found the MaxwellToolbar.tb under: C:\Programme\MaxwellDotNET\Plugins\Rhino\4.0\Toolbar Backup

As you can also see on the screen shot I made a copy of MaxwellToolbar.tb somewhere (I added it to the folder, where rhino takes its default toolbars) and loaded it using the Rhino toolbar manager.

This worked : The maxwell toolbars loaded. After closing and restarting Rhino the toolbars appear again. Thats fine so far.

But after I close the toolbars individually , I still cant open them again with Maxwell menu > Show Maxwell Toolbars.
(only with the Rhino-Toolbar- Manager , open them individual )

It looks like you might be running under a different user account than the one you installed with. The plugin is looking for the toolbar somewhere under your profile when you use the 'Show Maxwell Toolbars' command. If you run this way, you'll have to use the Rhino Toolbar Manager, because that command will always look under the user profile. I'll see what I can do about this for the future.

you are right !

but I forgot to mention that I had this suspect, too.

- I allready installed over a second time from the user account I am working with, but without success ...

Thanks so far !!

In the next version, I'll put more verbose language into the 'Show Maxwell Toolbars' command failure-case to let you know where the .tb is not being found. Seems like overkill to make it user-configurable, but that's an option too - I've had some difficulty predicting where the installer thinks things should be installed, then matching that up at runtime...especially when localization comes into the picture.

Cheers,

JD
