Hi all,

Here is my first (acceptable) maxwell rendering.

What is the best setting to put sampling level at? Any crits on the piece are welcome. I just set up a quik mxi sphere with a couple materials, Im pretty newb with maxwell so any comments on making the image look less blurry are welcome.

... You can see the big pixels of the background. I would use a higher resolution for the HDRI (resize it in HDRShop) or use a bigger sphere, so that it will be more blured from the DOF effect.

The basket material looks very flat, a bump could help a little. But maybe in a close up view only real geometry helps.

Olivier,

I followed the intrstuctions of the post "http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4926" and basically created a sphere, chopped off a sliver at the bottom, inverted the normals and applied my image.
The image was an hdri map from Paul Debavac's (sp?) website. So far the native hdri images have produced the best results for me but mostly because thats all I have tried. I played with a couple normal images but was having trouble adjusting brightness when I converted to .mxi. I also used hdrshop to edit.

PS my advice may be pretty lame seeing as how I have only had Maxwell for a few days....

Micha,

Thanks for the tips, I was wondering how to get rid of the pixels without resizing the map. As for the bump I think it would be pretty hard to get that one looking proper, I will probably just replace it with brushed metal or some type of wood.
