Well I finally got around to playing with MW this weekend. It seems that it has become some sort of passage to render an alchoolic beverage in maxwell when looking through the user gallery, so I decided to give it a try.

Something looks off, but I can't put my finger on it, aside from the liquid not appearing to touch the edge of the glass which is discussed in great detail in this thread. http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... light=wine

Comment for improving welcome as always. I was thinking about posting the file and let everyone else take a shot at it. It would be nice to learn by using the same scene, and seeing what everyone can get out of it. I have found this a great way to learn from others in communities like CG Talk. I will do this when I get home from work tonight. Does this sound like a good idea to anyone else.

Thomas I saw this post, and it made my tiny head esplode. In summary does it mean something is wrong with refraction in maxwell that needs to be fixed or no? Does it mean my liquid needs to touch the inner glass wall. Right now I have it offset .005". I thought that if they touch I will get some artefacting going on.

It means that based on Maxwell behavior (as determined by the first post of that thread) then this is the way to draw liquid-in-glass with Maxwell:

This method was proven both theoretically and experimantally:

It doesn't mean there is bug in Maxwell.... it is just how Maxwell works.
Of course if Oscar changes in the future the inner working of the engine then the glass-liquid thing may change too.

Ok I see now. Thanks for pointing me towards the most relevant area of that thread.

When I see a thread that has gone to 13 pages i just start randomly jumping deep into the thread assuming that the final correct solution will be towards the end. Apparently people just like to see themsevles post, as it seems you had the correct answer on page 1 and 2. Thanks again you are the masta :)
