I have some free hdr photo studios that Bubbaloo linked to

http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... hp?t=29968

I have them downloaded and unzipped but can't load them into my scenes or preview them -I get a Rhino message "An error occurred while reading the image file"- this is in the small window that appears when you are browsing to select an .hdr file. The file size is listed at 10240 x 5120

I know that the files are there because I downloaded HDRView and I can see and pan around the HDR files in the viewer but they are HUGE.

Do any of you folks know why I can't load them into the plug in?
Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!

Probably Mihai is right...but whatever the reason, that error message is protecting you from crashing.

Thanks guys.... I think it may be time to upgrade to XP64 and buy more RAM

At least Maxwell is making me more computer literate :). I have never had so much fun (seriously... not sarcastically).

I will try out hdrshop and see if I can scale these down- I haven't had any problems with other hdr's so I should be able to get them working.

Hey Ivox- I am running Xp32 bits with 4 gigs of RAM and Dual Xeon 5120's at 1.86ghz... I know it is not the most smokin machine but 2 years ago it was half way smokin for me :). I got into rendering and Maxwell after bad experiences with Flamingo through goldsmithing/modeling- the more I learn the more I like. I am going to have to upgrade pretty soon so those new i7 core machines look pretty cool.

Okay ... so unless you've employed the 3GB switch, ..then your only accessing 2GB's -- hence the HDR issue.

Yeah ... i7. :) I'm in the mood !
