hello,

did a quick search and couldn't find anything regarding this....

in maxwell studio there is a command called merge. it groups a set of objects so that materials are applied to them as if they are one. also, grouping objects that are emitters allows them to be one slider in multilight.

is there a way to do this with the rhino plugin?

thanks!

welcome whyrichard!

for lights you can do this:

-mesh your emitters / or extract rendermeshes from the nurbs
-"join" meshes together / this also works for non touching objects, unlike running the join command with nurbs objects.
-your emitters will be one slider in ML

for materials i usually group the objects i need to combine and assign mxms via right click after selecting the group in the viewport.

thank you very much!

... but what do you mean "via right click"...? right click on the layers window? i currently assign material by layer....

thanks again,

If you right-click on a Maxwell material thumbnail (in the Scene or Database Manager), there will be an 'Apply to Selected' item when there are objects selected in Rhino. If you use layers, just drag the material to the layer the joined meshes are on.
