Hi All- Does Rhino automatically select an hdri image for use in the rendered image view in Rhino? The reason I ask is that I am trying to get an idea of my render before I start and I have some distracting reflections that look like an hdri of a still life scene reflecting in my objects. Have a look.

I do have an hdri selected in the scene path but it is of a softbox emitter from hdri studio- definitely not this one.

Thanks

Hi Cary,

A couple of things here:

- the reflection can be disabled using the option 'Disable Material Environment'
- you can use a different map; see the option 'Material Environment' and set the path to whatever you want
- if you have not shown an HDRI env. in the viewport (i.e. using the Environments toolbar), then you will see this map reflected on things
- when you enable HDRI in the viewport, then the plugin will use that as the reflection. It will not reflect as you see it in Maxwell though, because Rhino env. mapping is always camera-centric

In case you're interested, I put up a basic HDRI tutorial here: http://think.maxwellrender.com/maxwell_ ... i-135.html .

Cheers,

Hi JD- Thanks for your reply and the link to your tutorial- I just saw that you had posted a bunch of other tutorials as well. That is GREAT!!! Thanks, I will peel through them and try to learn a little :).
I had not noticed the scene that reflected in Rhino before- I don't use rendered view that often so I was a little surprised. Thanks for clearing it up.
