I did a few quick test trying to use the plastic material on the white sphere. I can't seem to control the reflectivity of the material. I assumed this was the gloss control? Am I missing something?

Hi Eric,

You control shinyness with the specular color in the plug-in mat edit box.

Thanks Frances that worked. That seems a bit odd way of controlling the amount of reflection an object has. So the darker the color the less reflection it looks like?

I always thought specular controls just dealt with the false "highlight" a light gives on a material. I thought maxwell was physically accaurate so things like specular control seem a bit strange to have. What do I know though. Anyway thanks for the help.

One more quick question I cant seem to change the color of the emitter. I am looking to make my emitter put out a red light, but cant seem to find out how.

I think the materials don't have all of their properties yet.

I don't know if you have used Maxwell in other programs, but in Max, you can control the light color.

I see thanks. This is the first program I have used maxwell in, so sorry to all if I seem to be asking a lot of questions. This is just very exciting. Im such a dork!

No problem Eric. Here are screen shots of the material dialogs from Max so you can get an idea what properties will eventually be available:
