after downloading the updated" Modo plug in" the UVW channels" problem is still there..
absolutly frustrating !!

How many years you need to fix that problems?

Shure i will not pay a cent for upcoming Maxwell updates in the future, if you dont fix it.

Hey Boilerhead,

I think I had the same problem that you have.
Then I found out, with the help and suggestions of others
that it is just a simple issue that I can solve in Studio.
Open the "Texture Picker" that you can find in
the Material Editor and change the number of the 'channel'
of each used texture to the same number that is used for the 'channel'
of the projector in the "UV Sets" panel (of Object Parameters).
For some obscure reason the Modo to Maxwell translator changes this texture channel
to a different number.
Sincerely hopes this helpes. Before I found out I was just
as frustrated as you are by this issue. But now that that it works
I'm delighted again. Hope to see some beautiful images from you!

Cheers!

HEllo it is very frustrating
I have the some problem when I use plugin and convert scene to maxwell render I got:

ERROR: - UVW channels ( 0 ) on object "szkielka" not enough for material "Coating05"
ERROR: - Data preprocess failed. Render cannot continue
ERROR: - Render Failed

if I convert the scene not to maxwell Render but to the MAxwell studio
there are no errors but render does not run:

Cannot export scene.
Check Studio Console for details

Scene loaded succesfully!
Number of Objects: 11
Number of Triangles: 542142
Number of Materials: 8
Number of Cameras: 1
Error saving scene: object.setTriangleUVW : Invalid U value
Error saving scene: object.setTriangleUVW : Invalid U value
...

how to repair ??

Hi Ferkaluk,

Try this:
In Studio open the "texture picker" of all materials that are used in the scene.
(to be found by clicking the yellow/black checkerboard buttons
in the "material editor") MInd you; you'll have to look at all
the textures that are enabled in weight/BSDF porperties/surface porperties/subsurface properties etc.
Set each channel (first item in the panel) to the channel that
corresponds with the projector (which can be found in "UV sets"
under "Object parameters") This will usually have to be set to 0

Hope this works :)

Hello Ferkaluk,

The first one (render directly from modo) is probably not a bug, but not proper uvmap channel setting. (If you send me your scene I will check it).

The second one (start from Studio) can be a bug, but it is not in the plug-in but in Studio.

Please send me your scene (or a simplified version), so I can check it and return back to you with a solution.

Same problem here. Render directly from modo is fine. Export to Studio and render fails.

I have tried to change Channel ID assignment from Automatic to Manual in Modo plugin and manually assign Channel ID numbers. It works fine then.

It looks it is something wrong with Automatic assigment routine.
