I have had crashes trying to render from ArchiCAD. I am all current on Maxwell and plugin, but when i open the render settings in archicad, I get a bunch of bad parameters. After I fix them, I try to render and archicad crashes. is there anyway to purge preferences for Archimaxwell? maybe I need fresh preferences.

Does it happen with all of your ArchiCAD projects? What do you mean about bunch of bad parameters (what do you see?)?
