I am not able to reproduce this, so could you please:
  1. Tell me which operating system and version, version of SketchUp, and version of the plugin you are using.
  2. Send an example of an MXM you are using, a SKP where you have used it, and an MXS written from that SKP.
Please zip the files and send them to jeremy at nextlimit dotcom.

Hi,

The problem is in studio? > i can render directly from sketchup but the problem happens in studio (after importing an mxs from sketchup)

Thanks -- when the plugin writes an MXM file, it inserts all the paths from your Options > Search paths, as well as paths at which files used in the scene are found. Using a python script, I confirm that these paths are present in your MXS. However, when I open the MXS in Studio and either re-save it to another name, or send it to Maxwell, in the MXS file it writes, only one of those paths is still present -- the one shown in Studio's Render Options > Materials > Search Path field, though it has had the last part of the path removed. So, this should explain why you can render from the plugin, but not from Studio, and it is something I assume will be considered as being broken in Studio.

However, if you enable Pack & Go in the plugin (Options > Export), such that the MXM files and the files they reference, as well as any other referenced files (such as HDRs, which are also missing with the MXS you sent), are copied into a /textures subdirectory next to the exported MXS, then the files you export from the plugin should be able to be used without issue, whether on your machine, or on a render farm (of course you must also send the /textures directory to the farm for this to work).

Please let me know if this helps.

Hi,

I have looked and pack & go was already switched on in the sketchup exporter...

when opening in studio and rendering i'll get...

EBUG: - Preprocessing materials.
ERROR: - >> Error: Reading Bitmap "D:\00 KRISTOF PC OLD\03 Bibliotheek\02 maxwell\textures\BETON\concrete-32_d100 zonder voeg NRM_NRM.png". Format not recognized. Render cannot continue.
ERROR: - Bitmap File not found ( D:\00 KRISTOF PC OLD\03 Bibliotheek\02 maxwell\textures\BETON\concrete-32_d100 zonder voeg NRM_NRM.png ) in bump of Material "BETON NEUTRAAL 2"
ERROR: - Data preprocess failed. Render cannot continue
[07/July/2015 08:26:41] Ending render process..

ERROR: - Render Failed

when embeding the mxm i'm getting the same error...

when removing the mxm i'll get an error for another mxm...

EBUG: - Preprocessing materials.
ERROR: - File "\\nas-0a-7f-39\media\WEMAKE 07 bibliotheek\maxwell\textures\HOUT\AFM1 R90CW FV Bump.jpg" has not been found. Render cannot continue.

ERROR: - Data preprocess failed. Render cannot continue
[07/July/2015 08:41:27] Ending render process..

ERROR: - Render Failed

the strange thing is when i make a verry simple model in sketchup and use the exact same workflow and materials > all renders fine...embeded or referenced...multi-material or not...

For what it's worth, I just double-checked with a fresh copy from the zip file you sent, and Pack & Go was disabled in the file you sent me. I know of no way for it to fail if Pack & Go is enabled, because Studio will always look in the MXS directory, and a textures directory next to that.
