I am a new user of Maxwell and have begun to view the online video tutorials. My license is an for Maxwell for SketchUp v3. It is a limited version as I only paid the $99. My quest is that on the video "Introduction to Material Editor" it shows a screen with a large "VTC" in the center and options on the right. I do not get this screen. Is this because I have a limited version or did I miss something in the startup?

Also, when I open SketchUp, I do not have Maxwell showing. How do I link Maxwell to it?

Thanks for any help,

Terry

The VTC in this video is on the windows desktop background and it is only the logo of the "Virtual Training Company" http://www.vtc.com/

The material editor you see in this video is not part of the limited Sketchup version. You have to use the material options inside the Scene Manager Window

Have you installed the Maxwell for SketchUp plugin (the installers are available here)? If yes, did it seem to work okay, or were any errors reported? It may be installed, but either de-activated (in SketchUp Preferences > Extensions), or its toolbar may just not be open (in SketchUp's toolbars/palettes/whatever menu). It's difficult to give good advice without more details, such as: which version of SketchUp are you using, and are you on a Windows computer, or a Mac? And please, if possible, post a link to the actual video to which you refer.

Thank you for your response. I am using SketchUp 2014 on a Mac. I went to the SketchUp preferences and under Applications chose Maxwell. Restarted SketchUp, but still do not see it.

In SketchUp's menu bar, you should find a Plugins > Maxwell menu, and a toolbar you can toggle on/off, at View > Tool Palettes > Maxwell.

When you go to SketchUp > Preferences > Extensions, and click on the Maxwell for SketchUp item, what do you see printed below. There should be a box with some descriptive text, as well as some other items indicating Version, Creator, and Copyright.

Have you already installed the plugin, as described here? There is a .zip file you download and unzip, and inside, an .app, which installs the plugin, for the different versions of SketchUp you may have installed.

I went to the download page. There I am offered to Download version that relate to SketchUp 2015 or 2013. I have 2014. I downloaded the 2013 option. Unzipped the file and dragged icons into Plugins as requested. No Maxwell plugins show up in SketchUp.

First, there are two sections and two downloads, one for v3.x plugins, at the top of the page, and one for v2.x plugins, at the bottom. Since you say you are using 3.x, you should use the top section, where under the box for your email address, you'll find a drop-down, containing two options, one for Windows and one for OSX, and both covering SketchUp versions 6 through 2015. You will want the OSX one, and the downloaded file will be named Maxwell_for_SketchUp-3.1.0-osx.zip.

Once you have the downloaded the .zip file, you will want to unzip it, go into the unzipped folder, and double-click on the Maxwell_for_SketchUp-3.1.0.app application. This is the plugin's installer, and it will put the plugin's files where they need to go, after asking you for which versions of SketchUp (since some people have several) the plugin should be installed.
