Hello All
I am trying to make a self illuminating panel, ( in the real world it will be a back lite perspex panel)
Should I be thinking in real world terms and back light a perspex sheet?

A factor to consider is that though you can do that, it will generally be more expensive (CPU, therefore render time) to model and render something like this in a completely realistic way. So before doing that, I might first try setting the Character for the material applied to the geometry to use the Emitter type, and then play around a bit with the Roughness parameter. When you do this, the plugin will generate a mixed emitter material, which has a semi-rough surface -- the degree to which this will be perceivable will depend mostly on the power of the emitter vs. the camera exposure & overall brightness of the environment; you can get a view of the effect in the material preview, independent of these factors, by reducing the power output of the emitter material.
