Hello!

I'm having some trouble with a rendering. I'm not sure if it's me, or a bug with the Maxwell SketchUp plugin (or a SketchUp bug). (???)

I have used the "match photo" tools in SketchUp to create a view (= "scene" or camera). I can export the SketchUp views and composite it in the photo and the perspective and view matches the photo (as expected).

BUT, when I render the view in Maxwell, the camera shifts and no longer aligns with the photo and sketchup view. Also, if I use the Maxwell plugin scene manager to change the resolution from "viewport" to "custom" it changes the view (in SketchUp) so that it no longer aligns with the photo. I'm at a loss. I just want a render that matches the perspective I see in the SketchUp window. I've only run into this with "match photo" views (not other SketchUp views).

Is this a bug, or am I missing something here? Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm using the latest versions: SketchUp Pro 8.0.16846 and Maxwell Plugin 2.7.22.

Thanks!!!

I can't yet say for certain where the problem comes in, but it looks like the camera data we get (it is the same from both Ruby and C++) from SketchUp does not match what it displays, when Match Photo is active in the view. Whatever the case, this appears to be a possible workaround:
  1. Activate the Match Photo Scene.
  2. Click Camera > Parallel Projection.
  3. Click Camera > Perspective.
  4. Render.
At least, that works here (on win7) in my tests. Of course you might also want to hit Scenes > Add Scene between steps 3 & 4, to create a "working copy" of the Match Photo Scene. If you have a model where it works differently, though, I would like to take a look; if so, and you can share it, you can send it to jeremy at nextlimit dotcom, or use a file-sharing site like dropbox.

Thank you! My model is working like your example (also on Win7 64bit) Your trick works - easier than the workaround I found. I found that if I render a different view (to create the mxs) and then open that mxs in Studio - the photo match cameras are still present in the mxs and the perspective is correct, so then I can start the rendering from Studio.

So, does this seem to be a SketchUp bug?

Thanks for the help!
