I have been adding emitters in my sketch up models via maxwell studio as when I add emitters and IES files within the sketch up plugin they do not work. The renders come out with no lighting. There does not seem to be any tutorials available on applying emitters and IES files within the maxwell sketch up plugin. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds as though you are having no problem creating and applying the emitters, but are just not getting light from them. In that case, you would want to check the scene scale, the output power you've given your emitters, and your camera exposure, to be sure that they are realistic. You will find a FAQ on lighting in the plugin here, and there is a video on emitters here. If those do not help, please upload (use dropbox or similar) a simple example SKP file, where you have set up an emitter, and it is not working, so I can take a look.

It should provide plenty of headroom -- note that the numeric sliders in the plugin have two ranges: the visible range, which you can set by click & drag with the mouse on the slider surface, and the absolute range, which you can set using the keyboard. For example, the Watts slider in the plugin ranges 0-200 on the slider, but goes to a million with keyboard entry. Checking now though, I do notice that MXED's top limit for wattage has been raised to a billion at some point in time, so I'll update that in the next plugin build.
