Hi guys.

Sorry if this has been discussed before - I couldn't find it.
In the plugin, what does "hide from view" do?
It sounds like it would be similar from hide from camera?

MR manual explains these:
-Hidden from Camera: Hide the object from the render view but allow it to contribute to the render calculation (cast shadows, refract etc).
-Hidden from Reflections/ Refractions: Reflected or refracted objects are hidden.
-Hidden from Global Illumination: The object will render but it will not affectlighting.

The Plugins says the options are self explanatory, but I guess I am not smart enough to understand.
-View *
-Camera **
-Reflections/ Refractions **
-GI **
*(Couldn't find an explanation for it...)
**(explained in the manual)

Many Thanks!

I've tried to make this clearer in the next build. Hide from View corresponds to hiding the object in Studio (i.e. by using context menu > Hide/Unhide, or using the left-most toggle in the Objects list). So it means that the entity will still be exported, but that it will be completely hidden.

Yes, all objects in a Maxwell scene have a 'hide' flag; in Studio you enable/disable it using the methods I mentioned, and in the plugin you do the same using Hide from View.

you could loose the hide from view since most will do that through Sketchup's functionality. That's the first thing one would think of anyhow.

But the hide from camera is extremely handy for hiding trees and keep their nice shadows for example.

Hiding via SketchUp prevents the geometry from being exported at all; sometimes, though, you will want it exported, but not to be visible, until you decide to make it visible in Studio.

Sorry, but I'm not really revealing much at this time.
