I have been having serious problems for around a month now on my computer at work. Ill try to explain as best as i can!

I currently have Google Sketchup Pro version 8.0.4810 on a MAC OSX 10.5.8. (Specs: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 1GB 667 MHz)

The computer i am using had a quite old free version of Maxwell for sketchup (how old i am unsure but maybe a couple of years), altho the computer is slow maxwell worked perfectly fine. Then about a month ago for a project the company brought the full version of maxwell for sketchup (€75). I recieved the email stating if i already have the free version of maxwell for sketchup i can just go to /main menu/plugins/maxwell/license Validator to upgrade to the full version i just brought, when i did this the license validator option was not there, it was nowhere to be seen, not even when i typed it in in the searchbar in sketchup.

I assumed that maybe it was because it was an old version of maxwell. So my only option was to completly remove maxwell from the computer and download the latest free version from the site. I did this, installed it correctly but whenever i open sketchup it closes and i get a bug splat saying "The Application Sketchup has quit unexpectedly" I checked and when i removed the maxwell files it works fine. I checked and I do have Microsoft Silverlight version 4 not 5. I tried downloading different versions, manual installation and I also tried removing the other various Plugins i have installed, yet still the exact same result occurs.

I dont know if i am missing somthing obvious but everytime i ask people i get the same generic responses so i am close to giving up and trying to see if i can get a refund or something, but would be great if anyone could help.

Kinds Regards

Nick

The problem is most likely that support for OSX 10.5 has been removed from the libraries used in compiling the plugin. That would explain why it used to work, but no longer does. I only recently became aware of this change myself, and have been checking into whether we can add support for 10.5 once more. I had the developer who manages that library try compiling it for 10.5, and using that, I have made a special build that you can try: Maxwell_for_SketchUp8-2.7.23-sa-osx.zip. So please give that a try and let me know if it helps (I no longer have any 10.5 machines here); if not, the only option will to be to get your OSX installation up to date (10.6 minimum). Before running the installer, I would recommend manually ensuring that existing plugin files (maxwell.rb and the maxwell folder) have been trashed from /Library/Application Support/Google/Google SketchUp 8/plugins, and the machine rebooted, first.
