#360756
I'm working on a 10mb interior rendering. I have about 30 materials, some of them with unique MXM assignments. The problem is that I have to wait several seconds switching between materials in the SketchUp palette. It's painfully slow compared with the PC version (not to mention feature disparity).

Does anyone else deal with this, and is this just a Mac SketchUp problem?

Depending on the size of maps used, and also on whether MXMs and/or textures are missing and/or on a network drive, the first time opening a given material can reasonably be expected to be somewhat slow. After that, though, it should not be, since the plugin does go to some lengths to cache texture thumbnails and such. For non-MXM linked materials, SketchUp is asked to write textures to disk, and this can take some time, and must be done whenever a given texture has had its color changed, since SketchUp modifies the pixels of the image. So that is another potential source of slowdowns. None of this should be especially related to 10.8, though, so I would first recommend saving a copy of the scene, and then working with that a bit to try isolate the offending materials. With unnecessary geometry, materials, and component definitions purged, I would appreciate if you could then send me (jeremy at nextlimit dotcom) this simplified .skp, so I can try to reproduce the behavior here.
