Hi all

I have just started to use Maxwell and I have a question about importing 3d-models in Maxwell Studio.

I have previously used 3d models from the 3d warehouse, but now I want to use 3D models of higher quality and high poly trees. These may be downloaded from varius websites as obj-files or FBX-files etc.. The problem is that the textures do not appear in Maxwell Studio after importing and that the textures must be applied manually. It looks as though fortunately uv-mapping is correct, but it can be difficult when there are many different textures. Is there a way to import these 3d models in Maxwell with textures applied?

Best regards

I don't think so, but you may want to ask in the main Maxwell forum. It may be an idea to import the file into your modeling app (I have not used it, but there is a SketchUp OBJ import plugin that apparently supports textures available here; Rhino, for example, supports OBJ import with materials natively) and then use your Maxwell plugin to export the result as an MXS file.

Thanks for the tip. The obj-imorter for Sketchup does not work very well. I found out that Blender can import obj-files and that there is a script for exporting to Maxwell. I have still not been able to install the plugin properly.
