Howdy folks,
I recently purchased the Maxwell Render plugin for Sketchup and have been working through the manual. I wanted to know if anyone can point me in the direction of how to align a hdri image with an object.

I downloaded a car model and have been trying to align it with an hdr image. I will post the image as soon as the admins grant me that ability.

I'd sure appreciate any pointers.

Thanks,
O2bwln

I hear you, but there are reasons why the standalone is 1/10 the price of Maxwell Render, this being one of them -- render channels are not implemented, neither at the standalone engine level, nor in the plugin rendering UI. So yes, it is a limitation, but it is not arbitrary -- erasing it would involve writing a lot of code specifically for the standalone plugin, which would be of zero benefit to Maxwell Render Suite customers.

Now, if the engine were capable of compositing a shadow pass directly in the main image output, things would be different; this would automatically become a capability of the standalone plugin. The question is whether that is something that would be generally useful, or not; I think it might.

That's exactly what I was referring to JD -- I don't think render channels should be included into the Stand-Alone, but I have been asking for embedded shadows for quite some time in Maxwell... if for no other reason than we need it to be able to get accurate results with reflective surfaces (which should be reflecting the shadows as well).

Best,
Jason.

It would certainly be nice to have that feature, but I can understand the reason not to.

Either way, I'll keep moving forward with the standalone plugin and eventually move up to the full suite.

Thanks for the quick responses.

Take care,
