I am suddenly unable to use the Maxwell plug-in in Sketchup, except to use the export to MXS from the file menu or running a network render.

Hitting fire, trying to open the manager, or hitting the render button crashes sketchup with a bugsplat before the windows open.

I can open a new file and it wioll still crash, everything is at default.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Sketchup, uninstalled and reinstalled the Maxwell plugin. I don't know what else can be done. Sketchup works fine, and Maxwell works fine on their own.

The only difference is that I did an auto update to Windows 7 64bit.

??????????

Try uninstalling, rebooting, and then reinstalling Silverlight. If that doesn't help, I'd try using System Restore to roll the system back to just prior to the Windows Update, to see if that is what is causing it (although I'm not sure from reading your note, whether you are saying that Windows Update has just been run, or that you have just installed Windows 7 x64 over some other pre-existing XP/Vista Windows installation).

I think is Silverlight. I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled and now instead of a complete sketchup meltdown it at least tells me I have an unhandled exception in the Silverlight application and askes if I want to continue running scripts on this page.

But still not working and with all the installs and reinstalls I can't go back to before I did the Windows update from a few days ago that seems to have caused the problem.

Now what?

It was Silverlight. I thought I went back to the version 4 recommended by NL, but it was one I had DL'ed. I went through the process again and installed the correct version 4 and all is well.

This is an irritating type of problem because there was very little info to indicate the problem was not Maxwell or Sketchup related (so to speak), but Windows. Silverlight must have updated when I accepted an auto update from MS (which I will never do again so help me god), and if I had a pressing deadline I would have been screwed because the things one does as a last resort when things go wrong, like re installing all the software in question, didn't fix anything and there was no way to know what was going on.

I'm just glad my deadlines were far off enough.
