Hello,

at first my english is not the best so I explain in the way I can.

It is a problem with Maxwell for SU SA 2.6.0., 2.6.1 and 2.6.3 an the demo of mawell rs.

The material preview and the rendering (fire) doesnt work on my win 7 system.
Also there is no possibility to use an mxm material.
It looks like a rendering process works but there is nothing to see in the windows (preview and fire).
I figured out that the material previews are in the temp folder (maxwell/sketchup/temp) but not in the scene manager window.

The installationprocess shows no problems.

It works fine on win xp and win vista and osx.

All other Parameters are the same.

I checked this again with Maxwell suite demo and there is no result in the plugin material preview too but the separat renderprogramm works fine with a result

After I download v 2.6.1 and 2.6.3 from the forum and
I try it but there is a error message when I try to open the scene manager or fire button.

HTML element 'sl5uninstallosx' is missing

and it happesn nothing more.
So I installed Silverlight 5 and the message is away but the scene manager doesnt work.

So is there any idea out there.

The problem is that the win 7 system is the strongest hardware and so the preference.
Although we will buy the maxwell rs and we need the preview as well.

I did observe some heavy flickering with the UI under Silverlight 5.0 on Win 7, but I made changes in 2.6.2/2.6.3 which mitigate this, so it should be working fine. The error message "HTML element 'sl5uninstallosx' is missing", however, can only mean that the plugin is not installed correctly -- different versions of various files are installed. So, on Windows 7, if you use 2.6.3, you can use Silverlight 3.0, 4.0, or 5.0, but if you get that HTML error message, you should uninstall the plugin completely (use Programs and Features, and then double-check that everything Maxwell-related is deleted from the SketchUp Plugins directory), and reinstall.

I am not sure what this comment means: "Also there is no possibility to use an mxm material." So, please explain that with more detail; what steps are you using, and how is it failing?

so there is a deeper problem I believe.

I deinstalled everything I find in relation to maxwell even SU.
All folders and so on too.
I cleaned the registry and reinstalled SU but no plugins.
Then I start the new SU (without installing Maxwell and no other plugin) and I can see this window:

Fehler beim Laden der Datei C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/maxwell/init.rb
no such file to load -- C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/maxwell/ext/mxFehler beim Laden der Datei maxwell.rb
no such file to load -- C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/maxwell/ext/mx

In the preferences/ extensions I can find maxwell too.

So everywhere there must be a remaining file perhaps a .dll from maxwell.
Obvious its not completly deinstalled.

Do you know for what file I have to looking for, or where it could be.

Please confirm that the following folder and file do not exist:

• C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/maxwell
• C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/maxwell.rb

Reinstalling SketchUp would not likely have any effect, because it is likely that the SketchUp uninstaller would not remove these files.

Sure they arent there.
They dont exist, because I manually cleaned on the folder x86 all folders and files of sketchup after deinstalling and before reinstalling.
Its a cristal clean sketchup 8 installation.

For me the story is in the same way unbelievable. I am not a newbie.

But there must be everywhere a command that says the new SU 8 to load
the maxwell/init.rb and maxwell/ext/mx.
How the hell the programm should know this?

Its crazy - I know....

Perhaps my windows 7 is corrupt

Sorry for the work but believe me for me its very stressful.

4 Times now I deinstalled and cleaned and reinstalled my whole SU work surrounding in the last 2 weeks

Well, maxwell.rb is located somewhere, and SketchUp is trying to load it. As to where that might be, I can think of a couple of possibilities:

1. maxwell.rb is located in the SketchUp Plugins folder, but has been hidden, and Explorer is not set to show hidden files.
2. maxwell.rb is located somewhere under the path C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)

So check those and let me know what you find.

There were the files:

C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)

So I deleted them and the error wasnt shown again.
So far so fine.

But after I installed the version 2.6.10 and unfortunately the main problem is the old one.

There is no material preview and fire shows no results.

Obviously there is a render process but I cant see any result in the windows (preview and fire).
I tested this with v 2.6.0, 2.2.3 and 2.6.10 and under Silverlight 4 and 5.
Its always the same.

In the folder

C:\Users\[user]\...\Maxwell\SKETCHUP\temp\previews

I find the jpgs of the material preview.

I picture with the fire result I cant find in the moment.

So...

When Fire is rendering, do you see the resolution readout near the lower right corner of the Fire window? If so, does it appear to show the correct resolution (i.e. as set by Max. Resolution in the Fire Settings window)?

So what do we know at this point in time?

1. The behavior is the same for plugin builds which use totally different strategies.
2. The behavior is the same whether using Silverlight 4.0 or 5.0.
3. I can tell you that the plugin is developed on Windows 7.
4. You say it works fine on XP, Vista, and OSX.

This all implies that there is some unknown issue that is specific to this particular machine. All I can recommend at this point is a) uninstalling Silverlight, b) making sure that Windows and your drivers are properly updated, c) rebooting the machine, and d) re-installing Silverlight 4.0. If it still does not work, you could try the uninstall -> reboot -> reinstall routine again, but installing Silverlight 5.0. If this still does not help, I am afraid that I am out of ideas, at least for the time being.

And the other thing is that I will organize annother win 7 machine to check this out for me.

Like you say, on my other systems it works fine, so my idea is now to buy the maxwell rs and make the Material and other settings on annother machine and than render in a node or on this "problem machine". The rs brings a visible result here but unfortunately not the plugin of rs as well.
