Hmm, I don't find any code path which would allow that to happen, but I will keep looking. Could you please eliminate the network path variable by reproducing the behavior using a local path?

ok... maybe i found something. i think it could be related to the file browser problem, where from time to time the browse-button stops to work and then i have to switch to the other option to be able to select a path (custom to default and vice versa).
I tried to select a local path and the button didn't work anymore. Then i switched from default to custom, the browser worked again and the exported mxs was now stored in the selected folder, local and on a network path as you said!

And one other thing that i noticed is that sometimes i get no file overwrite warning, maybe this could be based on the same problem.

You are on OSX, correct (sorry, I cannot remember)? And may I assume you are using the 2.6.1 build linked in this thread? And finally, if on OSX, custom file browsers are not supported, except in the case that you have installed a ruby script that re-enables them, which if I recall correctly, I posted for you at one time on this forum. So I assume, since you say that you are switching between custom and default, that you are in fact using this workaround script. Am I correct so far?

In the case that you do use the default file browsers (ruby script or not), then you choose using SketchUp's own browser; when choosing a directory path, as opposed to a file one, you need to choose some file in the directory, in order to choose that directory. This accurately describes how it is working for you, correct?

Regarding no file-overwrite warning, you should only be warned if Output Mode is set to Prompt if output exists.

win 7 x64 and sketchup 7.1 with skp2mxw 2.6.1

no workaround script, switching to the other type solves the problem (for some hours or days). And yes, sometimes i have to select a file to select the dir, but not always, if i remember correctly... i have to test this.

I may have found a possible cause for the first issue, but I can't prove it conclusively, so just keep an eye on this after the next update. On the second issue, I still find no cause for that.

On harven's suggestion, I have just added some output macros that will be able to be used in the scene name:

%date:  date in YYYYmmdd format
%time:  time in HHMMSS format

%Y:     year   (e.g. 2012)
%m:     month  (01-12)
%b:     month  (Jan)
%B:     month  (January)
%d:     day    (01-31)

%H:     hour   (00-23)
%M:     minute (00-59)
%S:     second (00-59)

So, to write using the current SKP and Scene names, you would just enter something like %skp-%scene, yielding output names like Untitled-Top.mxs.
