Hey gents,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me get this scene to render correctly. Not that it's horrible, but the transparency of the graphic embedded in the plexiglass isn't showing the backlit effect properly. I just wanted it to render with a slight amount of light shining through, or lighting up the graphics just a little. Any thoughts?

I can send you or post the .skp if you need.

Thanks!

Hi mgordon320,

maybe you might try this: convert the picture of the information sheet in a HDR format using Photoshop or Maxwell.
Then you generate an emitter material with the type HDR image and apply it on a plane beneath your glass plate.
Using the multilight feature you can adjust the power of the lucent sheet.

Best regards

I'd do some testing without the plexiglass first and get it how you want it. The glass seems to be causing a lot of caustic issues.

Thanks guys, I think I'll try both those things.

@Brodie - I agree. I'm still learning about materials in Maxwell, so I just downloaded one from the resources portal and went for it. It wasn't nearly as clean as I had hoped for.

Mate you could also try using AGS for the top and bottom faces of the glass and real glass for the edges. Strange workaround but works very well and convincing.
