Have you ever used Sketchup JD? You just described the current working process of Sketchup users everywhere in a nutshell

But seriously this is the way the software works and people who are comfortable with the software expect the plugins to work like the native tools do so this is no stretch at all... don't blame me for how they set it up

Besides I dont want to hear it -- over on the Rhino forum they think a right click instead of the left click on a button should change what the button does... you won't find any of that madness in here

BTW, If you ever get really ambitious and decide to create some sort of Sketchup viewport-only preview planes as a visual aid for these tools (all 3) I think using the up and down arrow keys to move the selected plane forward or backwards (in Z-Depth) would be very Sketchupian as well. :D

I just had an interesting thought -- what about adding a "heads up" display to let the user know immediately which mode/tool you are in... I was starting down this path originally as you can see here: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtop ... up#p307721

I can see dynamic planes serving a definite purpose, since a snap/inference point doesn't visually indicate what is actually clipped, but I'm not so sure about the value of a HUD -- since the same info is already shown in the status bar, would it not just be eye candy?

JD, the newest version of Maxwell does not seem to be passing the Z-Buffer information from Sketchup into the actual render... is this related to the similar Material Override issue?

Also I want to commend the current utility of these new tools -- I often use Z-Buffer to create displacement maps from geometry and setting that up in Studio is a bear... doing it in Sketchup is now much faster and more precise thanks to these new tools :D

Jason.

I continue to watch these Videos and struggled upon the next misterious thing.
When opening the Scene Manager and search in the Material Browser for an embedded Material, I only get Roughness as Parameter in different Character Types. No Nd, Thickness, density or anything.
I've tried it with the Plastics Material, Glass and SSS as well.

Not a great surprise
I had checked this on the English Version as well, just to be sure.
But I'm sure it was not in the preview training sessions, before the new Plugin update.

... and something to note: When switching to another Type ( from sss to Glass) they coming up. When switching back to sss they are available too. But switching to the next Material nothing changed i.e roughness has the same values.
