I thought I'd do a comparison of the two engines with the same scene at differing locations and times with no change to settings from the box and straight diffuse textures.

Must say the render and export times for all seem similar though switch to biased mode and bang under 2 min!

Sorry forgot to mention all tests were run for 4 minutes each - was testing the fast clean up of each scene!

Very interesting tests Richard. To my eye they look quite close with just those standard settings, except for the sky which I think is much more realistic in Maxwell than the Thea renders.

Yeah the Maxwell sky is hard to beat! Though the sun effects on the building is also a very dramatic difference!

Agreed, I didn't notice it before on my work computer but here on my home computer it's quite noticeable. The Thea renders look rather 'cold' for an exterior shot like that where as the Maxwell renders are much more appealing.
