Hello, longtime lurker here with a question about Solidworks mesh output for Maxwell. I am trying to make a part with displacement but keep getting bad results due to Solidworks poor mesh output, there seem to be only 15 subdivisions on the back of this part :?. Is there anyway that I can change how the plugin is exporting the mesh to improve its quality, or at least increase the poly count? The only fix I've found so far is bumping the precision waaay up for displacement, and the render time is really suffering. Any help is much appreciated!

Really, the only control you have over this is in SolidWorks Document Properties > Image Quality; unfortunately, SolidWorks tends to produce lots of long skinny triangles, which are not very good for displacement. If I need better meshing, I'll bring the part into Rhino or Moi3D where I have more control, then bring that back into SolidWorks via STL, or into Studio via STL/OBJ/etc. Moi3D is quite inexpensive - lots of people use it for generating nice meshes from 3DM and IGES files, as it is generally considered to have a much better mesher than Rhino.

That's what I was afraid of! Thank you very much for the quick response JD, I'll be sure to check out Moi3D, it might be just what we need.
