it is very tough to place a mxsRef like a car or a tree because it is in points only.

we do usually scatter real blocks and only write out mxsRefs if the placement (eg. trees etc.) is finalized.

but sometimes things need a few manual adjustments later and it would be great to do these on the fly with the imported mxs references.

but if there are 2k trees, beware one turns up the detail too high, brings down even a strong graphics card.

i wish there was an option to display only the selected reference(s) in high detail.

thanks,

It's not really possible to do that, since MXS References are really blocks, and it's not possible to have one instance of a given block definition appear differently than another. If you have a scenario where it is difficult to move instances around, might it be helped by temporarily switching the reference to use the Wireframe Proxy Type? The choices are basically either that, or using the point cloud, but with a reduced Proxy Detail value.
