Hey guys, I am having some issues with the latest install of Maxwell.

In V4 I received the following error message after the install and on first run of Rhino

Image

I attempted to set Maxwell as the Current Renderer however I receive the message that I am unable to make Maxwell the current renderer

In V5 Maxwell seems to be up and running. I can export a file for rendering but Maxwell shuts down with the following error message.

Any of you guys have any idea where things have gone off the tracks? THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd go to Programs and Features and uninstall any version of Maxwell for Rhino that you see there, then go to Program Files (x86), or wherever you installed the plugin, manually make sure the MaxwellDotNET folder is deleted, and then install 2.7.10 again. The plugin-related error messages either mean that parts of the plugin are missing, or that parts from different versions are installed. I'm not sure what the message in Maxwell is about -- there was a problem like that (stemming from bad geometry) with 2.7.0, but it should be fixed.

Hey Jeremy,

I did a fresh install, cleaned out my registry, restarted a couple of times and still have similar issues. In V4 I can't install the .rhp file even though I can browse to it's location and select.... here is the error message that I get if I try to install

In V5, the plug in loads - prepares toolbars for first use and everything looks normal. If I hit render Maxwell will start and then shut down with the message that it can't write the mxs file.

Any ideas...?
Thanks as usual :)

I didn't get what you meant by doing a manual install before, but it starts to make more sense now. Are you running Rhino 5 x64? And if so, are you installing only the x64 plugin? Rhino 4 does need the x86 plugin, so if you have both an x86 Rhino (V4 and/or V5) and an x64 Rhino, you need to install both plugins.

On the Maxwell issue, the question would be: is this with all files, or just one? Can you render a simple cube?

Hey JD -yes, I am running V5 x64. I was only installing the x64 plugin - this is my first re install for a long time and forgot that I needed both 32 and 64 bit for the Rhino V4 on 64 bit systems. Thank you for your patience and advice!!!!!!!!!!
