Hello
Is there a good way to make a clean and correct hidden line rendering (does not have to be vector outpout) of a not-so-clean rendering with intersecting surfaces?
I tried Make2D, TechnicalDrawing in Rhino5 and the Penguin Trial but none of those tools does make a line, if two objects are intersecting.
There must be a program which is able to detect the two faces?
Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

not sure if it works for intersections.. but worth a try..

i only played with the other features, but due to RIB support you should get very good line output.

alternatively.. couldn't you just go ctrl+A and _intersect and take a coffe break? :)

...not easy in Rhino, I remember having to take a snapshot of a viewport with object in wireframe mode and matching it up with the rendering.

If you want to show lines of where two objects are intersecting you would need to create the intersection seperately and then add it back in. I think this will also work if you then decide to use the Make2d command.

Try it on two spheres...create two intersecting spheres, make a copy of each, use the Solid --> Intersection command on 1 pair (which leaves the intersection) and then use Make2d command -- it shows the outline and intersection. Your object may be more complicated.

More complicated and I've actually used this method...you could extract the wireframe Curve --> Curvefromobject --> Extractwireframe, export wireframe as an Illustrator file from Rhino and work with it in Photoshop.

theoretically the technical viewmode does intersections, but it only works for really simple models here. it did skip a lot of objects on my model. doing all intersections manually would be a possibility though.
another problem are overlapping surfaces/objects. I know that you shoud not have them, but for the actual project we got the model and want to avoid rebuilding it from scratch.
the AIR rendering also has a problem with overlapping surfaces otherwise it seems like a great solution, so I'll keep the program in mind, maybe for ambient occlusion.
