Hi,

Firstly, thanks for a great plugin JD, you've done a splendid job here. I was just wonderings about SSS compability between old 1.7 materials to 2.0 ones.

1. Do they need to be re-made to achieve the same result?
2. The presets are still available in the SSS wizard in the plugin, but I've read on the forum about people being dissapointed the presets are gone. Also, the wizard is not based on the same steps as the one in Stand-alone MXED. Is the SSS wisard in the plugin still valid, and, or will it be updated in a future update?

Best regards,

- Björn

Yes, the sss wizard was a corner of the plugin that I forgot about, so it's still using 1.x logic. It can do an o-k job with some of the presets if you (a) copy the scattering color to the transmittance color, and (b) adjust attenuation to as necessary. Some of the presets won't work well even then, but may still at least give you a jumping-off point. Remember there are also a few sss mxms in the Maxwell materials database, and that the new system is a bit simpler to use than the old one, so I don't suppose it should take too long to get proficient using it.

I know! It's WAY better. I went through the manual on the subject and was up and running making SSS-materials in 30 minutes. I even understand what to change in order to get a wanted look, which is more than anyone could ever say about the old user inteface...

By the way, the next version will also add the mxed-style advanced wizards (i.e. ags, car paint, sss, etc.).
