I am a new Maxwell Render user.

I am hoping that I am missing something but it seems that the Maxwell render does not recognize the clipping planes I use to develop architectural sections within Rhino. Can Maxwell render sections in Rhino?

Thank-you

i think Greg needs the clipping not the curves..

it is right that maxwell can't render rhino clipping planes, but if your are rendering a "planar" view (your clipping plane is parallell to the camera plane) you can use maxwell z-clip feature in the camera options. but you will need to measure the correct distances from your scene manually.

Ah, ok I reacted on the Section-Bit as Greg already found out that Clipping-Planes don't work.

Thank you both for your replies.

OK so Z clipping planes are my only option. Which means I can't do non orthogonal sections or perspective sections. Do you know if this a limitation of rhino or maxwell? Is Maxwell or rhino intending to address the option to render sections more directly? I would think this would be a highly desirable option for rendering both architectural and industrial design objects. Are there other workarounds.

Thank-you in advance for your insights

Hi Greg
I think this would be a limitation of maxwell.
A workaround is possible, but depending on the complexity of your model it can create a lot of extra work.
To do so, you would have to physically cut your model in half, select the part that will be cut away and make it 'hidden from camera'.
That should give you the same result as with a z-clip-plane.
Cheers, Christoph
