Hello everybody
Sorry for this non-maxwell-related question.
But is there any tool which lets you drop any objects (a chair eg.) onto a surface. Like the "Project" command but for complex objects.
I know this from other software, but haven't found any solution for rhino.
Thanks for any hints.
Cheers, kami

there are quite a few ways of aligning objects on a surface..

what exactly do you want to do.. reduce a volumectric object to a 2d layer on a curved surface? you could also project silhouettes created from the projecting view.. or project a make2d

I want objects (eg. trees) to be dropped from above on a surface (eg. terrain). Or similar with objects like chairs. At the moment I always have to try and vertically move them until they are on the right place. On a complex terrain that takes some time :)
I did check out the two commands glassbathroom suggested, but wasn't able to do what I wanted, but I haven't spent too much time trying so maybe I'll give it another try.

You are looking for gravity and colision, Rhino is not your friend there. If that's a handfull of objects you will have to move and rotate them untill they look right.

If you have scores of them you should try an animation package. You can have ir for free with blender: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSJyqmh- ... re=related or look at Maya, Lighwave or even realflow from NextLimit. But you will have to export everything as meshes to do that.

thanks, that was the answer I was afraid of :)
technically it should be possible, so I hope there'll be a plugin at some point in future?
It's not that big of a deal which would make me switch software, since rhino really is ideal for my work
