It depends on what you mean by interesting. Technically speaking, it's doesn't necessarily hold much meaning for the existing plugin, but as far as opening up lots of new possibilities for the future in general, it's quite interesting indeed.

There have been plans for an OSX plugin for as long as it's been known that there would be an OSX Rhino. What such a plugin will look like, and how long it will take to write, have been always been the only unknowns.

As for recompiling, yes, it's a bit more involved than that. Having .NET available on OSX is a great development, but it does not change the fact that the plugin is a very Windows-centric application. I do not currently know if it would take more effort to work around that, or to write a different plugin altogether -- whether a different plugin were to use .NET or not is a separate question, and one which did not even exist until recently.

I can't wait! Rhino for Mac is well developed, but I can't see it being formally released for a while. McNeel & Associates take ages getting the WIP and Beta releases right before the formal launch. This is probably a really good thing, but it can slow up the development of plug-ins I suspect.

Either way it is great that Maxwell are keen to develop a plug-in as soon as they can. I am sure JD will do a great job if he get's the project.
