Hi JD,

would you know what is this error I am getting when trying to render:

Maxwell: warning: Errors detected in scene creation phase. MXS will not be created. (method: writeMXS) (caller=Maxwell.Scenes.ip_callback)
Maxwell: warning: The Scene was not successfully written, due to an internal Maxwell error.

This is an old file that used to be rendered with maxwell 1. Now I opened it in the v2.5. BTW I removed all old materials. I can see it in Fire but Maxwell cannot open render window...
Win7 64x and Rhino WIP 5 64x.

Thanks

I can't diagnose that class of error without the Rhino file. Before I ask you to send it though, I'd suggest re-meshing using different parameters; it probably contains a mesh which is okay by Rhino, but which is not good enough for Maxwell.

Thanks JD,

very good advice. That is exactly what I was hoping for... :D
Not sure what was wrong with that file but I’ve just migrated all geometry into a newly created one and everything is good.
Thanks again.

As I said, I cannot diagnose this type of error without a Rhino file. If re-meshing the scene does not help, you can send me a file (jeremy at nextlimit dot com) and I can try to find out what is causing the problem.

Thanks for the file. The problem is that the older file contains camera z-clip values which are no longer valid in Maxwell 2. These will be fixed up automatically in the next plugin update, but for now, you will need to make sure that the z-clip far distance for the camera is greater than the z-clip near distance (the problem here is that they are both 0.0). Also note: if Output > Export > Active camera only is not checked, any camera in the scene may cause the error, even if it is not being used, since all Named Views will be exported when that option is off.

...to enable z-clip ( Why ? I don't need z-clip???)and change the values for...

I didn't mean that you need to use z-clip, but that you need to correct the values to be compatible with Maxwell 2. The z-clip far distance needs to be greater than the z-clip near distance, so:

1. enable z-clip
2. make z-clip far greater than z-clip near
3. disable z-clip
4. render

This is just a workaround -- it will be handled automatically in the next plugin update.
