Been out of Rhino/Maxwell for a while (Acad construction docs), so when I came back to my house project after several WIP versions and latest MW and plugin updates, I'm finding my material scale to be off and when I hit "refresh viewport materials", the program hangs and have to close it.
What should I look for and/or do as I need to have those materials with the right scale?

Which version of Rhino are we talking about? Also, 'hangs' is an ambiguous term -- is the CPU in the process of doing work, or is the app just sitting frozen? Where are textures and/or linked MXM files located? Are any of them on a network drive?

Rhino 64 bit v5 21Jul WIP on Vista.

The little Windows blue ring is going that shows that the cpu is thinking....I let it run for several minutes (what is the correct terminology?).

It is a big file, but in the past on the same file the refresh viewport materials went in seconds.

If you open Task Manager, you should be able to see if the CPU is actually working or not. It may also be useful to go the Performance tab (assuming you're on Vista or greater) an opening the Resource Monitor -- you might be able to determine whether the issue is related to file access, network, etc.

Here, when it takes a moment, the blue 'wait' cursor is shown, as you indicate, but the files I've tried are not taking any more than a couple of seconds to refresh. I doubt it makes a difference, but I'm on the August 3 build.

Also, rather than using the big guns, i.e. Restore Viewport, you might try just adjusting texture tile on a single material and see if that also presents a problem.

by the way, I'm not on a network.

the task manager indicates that the cpu is working.

no problem when I go into one texture and adjust the settings...it updates fine.

Seems like I had a problem like this before and seem to recall it had to do something with one of the textures, and maybe it had to do with the texture file path, but that one I fixed.

When I have some time I'll have to go through the file and go through the process of elimination to see if I can isolate it, unless you have a better idea.

No, I'm afraid that, given the scenario, there is really nothing specific that I can put my finger on. Other than the things I already suggested checking, I mean.
