I would like to see a "Select unused materials" in the materials manager that would allow me to see which ones have not been assigned prior to deleting all unused materials.

That's a nice idea.
I got another question. Would it be a lot of work to be able to group and arrange the used materials? I got a scene with a lot of objects that are all individually materialised. And now I got no overview at all with that many materials in the scene.

+1 .. in my last scene.. i had... due to several reasons, especially because of tons of blocked assets.. no les than.. 485 used materials in my scene

without some sort of grouping/ structuring.. you have to be very good on remembering the alphabetical side :)

also .. maybe i missed it is there a fumction to select objects w/o maxwell mat assigned?

i used to do it the inverted way.. select all via material thumbs.. and then invert selection.. but with many mats.. it becomes dangerously slow.

thnx!
