Hi!

i just loaded a scene i rendered last week in 1.7, and hit render.

all textured materials were rendering completly black.
i had to manually click onto the texture slots of each material to make them render, although they showed fine in the viewport.

refreshAllTextures command or MR_restoreViewport didn't do the job either.

cheers,
Daniel

That's a different issue, which will be fixed in the next update; for now you'll have to delete the empty layers. Apparently, the 1.8.3 plugin was creating extra layers in certain cases - I was unaware of that until after 2.0 was released.

On the original topic though, I reinstalled 1.8.3, created a scene that used a bunch of different projectors, went back to the new plugin, opened the scene, and it renders fine. So I still don't know how to duplicate the issue.

alright.. initially i wasn't sure if the black textures were somehow connected to the layer issue.

i now got a simplified scene for you, which has the problem. please check you PM

i exported two objects and "gathered files" .. upon reopen it still rendered black, so i hope you will be able to reproduce.

thanks,

Daniel

Thanks, it worked the same here. The problem is caused by those extraneous layers - as they are using normal blending mode, they are simply hiding everything below. So, this will no longer be a problem in the next update - until then, just open the material in the material editor, select the top layer, and hit delete until the empty layers are gone. It looks like these extra layers were being generated by the 1.8.3 plugin when a material had displacement enabled.
