Is there anyway to plug the vertex map tags of C4D objects into a maxwell material to drive a mask for example?

One way would be to use a Bake Texture tag to generate a texture (from a texture tag, or tags, which use the vertex map tag) on disk, which is then referenced by a Maxwell material as a layer mask.

That is exactly what I'm up to right now actually. Seems feasible enough. Would be nice with a direct coupling though, perhaps technically out of the scope, I have no Idea.
